There was recently a question about slide shows at a reception and whether or not they are tacky on www.weddingaces.com .

The answer will depend on who you ask however; since our studio is a full time photography and video production company we often get requests for reception productions.

These productions will range in complexity and in price, but if you are planning on entertaining your guests and yourself with a video montage at your wedding and don’t want to make it tacky, than use a professional studio to create your reception video.

Typically, there are three kinds of reception productions, which we see. The first is the photo montage, which takes you down memory lane. It may be great to revive some nostalgia, but will mean little to most of your guests.

If you add some unique images to the montage, with some video footage, which is edited in a creative way, you will defiantly entertain your guests, without being tacky.

You second option in to have an “On Location” edit, which requires a video editor to create a photo montage of your ceremony, played back at your reception.

The third option is to have a full time, “on Location” editor, who will edit your ceremony and reception footage, being played at your wedding.

These can sometimes be a distraction, so take into consideration what you are trying to accomplish, and always use a professional, who will provide the equipment and a technician to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.
