The Future is BLU!
The HD Format war is over! Blu-ray Disc is the High Definition format of choice. When Toshiba announced that they will no longer produce HD-DVD players it was clear that Blu-ray Disc won. Since the begging of High Definition it made since to me that Blu-ray is the better format for the simple reason that it is a higher resolution then the HD-DVD format. Blu-ray is 1080p and HD-DVD is only 720p.
The consumer needs to be aware of the end of the format war because the electronics that were manufactured for HD-DVD like the HD-DVD players and television sets that are 720p are now selling at a very low price. It is very tempting if you are out shopping for a TV set and the 720p is $500. Less than a 1080p to purchase the 720p and save the $500., if you are making the investment it is better to spend the extra money and buy the 1080p because it will be more compatible, and you will get the highest quality of the High Definition signal that you plug in to the set.
I don’t think that I need to mention why no one should purchase a HD-DVD player, but I will. The HD-DVD players are now on sale for as little as $150. The question is what are you going to do with it in a year when no company is putting out new HD-DVDs? It is like that cool 8track player your dad had, USELESS!
Okay so what does this all have to do with Abacus Wedding Studios you ask? We have been working digital video since it was first introduced. Then as soon as HD video cameras hit the market we purchased two. The technology was way ahead of its time back then, but now it is becoming the standard. Years ago weddings were videotaped onto S-VHS, and then digital video blew S-VHS away in cost and quality. Now the standard digital video is not good enough, although the quality of standard digital video is good, HD is twice as good.
If you have not seen a true High Definition video it is worth the trip to your local electronics store. The quality difference is like night and day. True HD is so clear it is like you are looking out a window. If you are interested in having your wedding shot in High Definition and would like to see a sample please call the studio to set up an appointment. We have a true 1080p Blu-ray sample to show you in our studio on a large 1080p 37” LCD TV. You will be blown away when you see the tiny little bubbles in the champagne glass or the tear in the bride’s eye.
